Ready to change your life?
Let me share with you these seven choices that will help you change your life and make an impact in the society.
We all make choices in life.
Those choices either make us or break us.
In life, we all want to be successful, but our success depends so much on the decisions we make. Each moment we make choices whether we go to church or not eat nutritious food or not. What clothes to wear, what foods to eat.
Every thing in our life is made up of little things. These things are the choices we made.
So, the question is what are the choices that we have to make that will have a significant impact in our lives.
One thing to note is that all our choices have trade-offs. In economics, we call this opportunity We cost. That is the value of the foregone benefits when making a choice.
Before anything else, I would to inform you that this post was inspired by the presentation of David.
Alright, let's get into this. There are seven choices in life that will help you change your life.
Of course, you can add your own set of choices that will help you grow as a person.
The choice to grow.
A quote from the book Wise Decisions shares an insightful thought.
Many people are stagnant in their lives because they do not know what exactly they would do.
Indeed, we all have to make a decision. A decision to grow in life.
Growing is not an overnight tasks. If we choose not to grow, we limit ourselves to the things that may happen to us.
If we do not grow, we accept failures and not a success.
If we do not grow, we are not using our true potential to have an impact in the world.
If we do not grow, we die.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18).
This is the secret of success.
The choice to give.
The secret to a happy life is in giving. God gave his only begotten son. We have been given the example to follow from our father. It is just worth to give what we have. But what if we do not have things to give? It's not only the materials things that we can give but also our time, effort and prayer. Pray for other people.
If we start giving today, we open the windows of heaven to pour also blessings to us. Giving is a privilege because not all people can give for free. Ellen White says, the great law of life is the law of service. In serving, we give our own life, we deny ourselves, in denying ourselves we live and make a difference.
There are people who are a giver, and yet they receive more, while there are those who do not give, and become poor. (Proverbs 11:24-25,).
The choice to listen.
It has been said that the ability to listen is the key to influence people. If you want to influence people, be a good listener. Not only listening to other people will help you improve and change your life. You need also to listen to yourself. What I mean is to listen to your inner voice. Some people call these instincts, but to me, I call this Holy Spirit as a counselor.
The choice to make a difference.
It doesn't have to be complicated. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you want to see in the world. The famous philosopher wrote,
Philosophers have only interpreted the world, but the point is to change it. - Karl Marx
Making a change is not that difficult though. You just need to find what you are really passionate about. What do you really want to do in life. If you find what you are looking for then, you are good. If not, keep searching! (That's the famous quote of Steve Jobs)
The choice to do what is right.
There is good in all us. But sometimes we are faced with a situation wherein we have to decide which side are we. Its either we do the right thing or the opposite. However, there is no such thing as doing the wrong thing to make things right. Its always wrong!
The famous author once wrote,
The greatest want of the world is the want of men--men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. {Ed 57.3}
The choice to take care of your health.
Your health is your wealth. What is the use of money if you are just using it for your monthly maintenance in health? While still young, choose to be wealthy by creating your healthy lifestyle. We are just human beings not program machines. Working too late at night will pose a negative effect in our body. We are given 7 days a week and only 6 days are allotted for work. It is written, six days you do all the labor and on the seventh day, you take a rest. It's plain and simple.
The way to a happy life is to have a balance lifestyle.
The choice to connect with a higher power.
Lets face it. There is still a higher being that governs the law of nature. While some people may deny His presence. Still, His omnipotence is beyond human comprehension. Why we need to connect with him? Just imagine running out of the power of your cell phone. Everything could turn out bad. No one can contact you, no updates from the world, etc. The least thing you can do is to attach or plug in yourself to get back on track.
There are many choices that we have to make in life. Whatever those choices are, we are accountable to it. But whatever circumstances that may happen along the way, we are successful.
Change your life and make no regrets!
